The group-stage is over, now it’s time for the knock-out stages in the world cup. Sixteen teams left are ready for 1/8-finals. I almost managed to bet all the correct teams for this stage, but I got three teams wrong. Poland, Czech Republic and Croatia did not manage to go on. It will be some exciting matches the next days. The teams that looks to be the best at this moment are Argentina, Germany, Spain and Brazil. I think one of them will be the world champion. I’ve previously bet on Brazil, but it could verry well be their big south-american rival Argentina.. We just have to wait and see, still two weeks left with world class football. ![]()

The first week of the Fifa World Cup 2006 in Germany is over. It’s been a fantastic week with lots of fantastic goals and football on a high level. And it’s still three weeks to go! Here is a list of the best so far in my opinion:

Best teams:
- Argentina
- Spain
- Germany
- Holland
- Brazil
Best players:
- Arjen Robben
- Juan Roman Riquelme
- David Villa
- Phillip Lahm
- Tomas Rosicky
Best matches:
- Germany vs Costa Rica
- Argentina vs Serbia & Montenegro
- Spain vs Ukrain
- Australia vs Japan
- Czech Republic vs Ghana
Best goals:
- Cambiasso (ARG - SCG)
- Frings (GER - CRC)
- Rosicky (USA - CZE)
- Kaka (BRA - CRO)
- Torres (ESP - UKR)

Update on my current situation: I’ve moved back to Bodø from Tromsø. You can read more about Bodø here.

The day has come, it’s time for the 18th Fifa world cup, this time in Germany. 32 days, a whole month with 64 fantastic football matches!! Here’s my thoughts about the 8 groups and who I bet will win the whole thing:
Group A: The world cup host Germany and Poland goes through to the 1/8-final.
Group B: Easy, England and Sweden to the 1/8-final.
Group C: A verry tough group, but I think Argentina and Holland will go through.
Group D: The two big favourites in this group goes further on, Mexico and Portugal.
Group E: Another tough group. Italy and Czech Republic to the 1/8-final.
Group F: Brazil and Croatia goes through.
Group G: France and Switzerland.
Group H: Quite easy for Spain and Ukraine to go further on.

Then comes the 1/8-finals. I think the teams who will go on from this stage are Germany, Argentina, England, Portugal, Italy, France, Brazil and Ukraine. The quarter-finals will be won by Argentina, France, England and Brazil. That means semi-finals between Argentina and France, and England vs Brazil. I bet the big final will be Argentina vs Brazil and BRAZIL becomes the world cup champions 2006.

I’m going to the Roskilde festival in Denmark this summer! I got my ticket yesterday, so now I’m ready for one week in a tent and lots of great music together with about 100 000 other people from around the world. ![]()
